For covering a large amount of people and situations, learning how to make a Book of Prayers is a good idea. This is a simple but powerful idea to help change the situation for a large amount of people in a short period of time. Find a simple book of plain paper to write people’s names in. So many times, we find ourselves trying to recite the names of everyone who needs help, and we feel guilty if we forget even one! Your intention of love makes a difference.
How to Make a Book of Prayers
Praying for people does not go against the free-will choices of others, but it offers more opportunities for God’s interactions with them. It’s like God plants more flowers along their path. But it’s still up to them to look down and see and interact with them. When we pray, God graciously plants more and more flowers. More opportunities for love, guidance, safety, healing, etc. Prayer is important!
Have an Indent, What Connects You to the Person?
An indent is needed to feel the biggest compassion, for our prayers to be the brightest possible. But for sending out general prayer, not every detail about people’s needs or health conditions is needed. God knows both what they, and we, need. No personal information needs to be disclosed in these situations, and when we are including them in a book of prayer, these needs will change. Truly, this is the time that we can have faith in Romans 8:26, “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”
At night before going to bed, think of anyone who has been brought to your attention who needs help. Perhaps it is someone at church, at work, or even on TV, or in the newspaper or on social media. Write their names down in the book, each one on their own uncluttered line. And don’t forget to write your own name in the book too. God has the capacity to handle it all.
Hold the book between your hands, in a prayer position, and approach God. “And prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:15) Pray for the nations, the government officials, for the oceans and for the earth itself. Let God know both how much you care to see “His Will done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-13) This is a wonderful way to let go of all your cares and worries, having faith that everything will work out the way it should. Know that what you are doing really matters and can make a huge difference!
Prayer is not a difficult thing. And it allows you to show your true spiritual balance by actively working with your desires to bring blessing and love upon the planet. You’ll never be stuck with just “wishful thinking” again. Prayer is so much more that just wishing - you are connecting with infinite power! Your faith to reach out beyond yourself, and your compassion to help others is a precious thing in the eyes of God.
